About WHYAT – Atelier & Store

WHYAT is an independent, family-run fashion brand based in Vienna, founded in 2018 by brothers Philipp and Bernhard Ledl.

All pieces are designed in our Vienna Atelier. Most items are also made here, in small runs and with a hands-on approach that defines how we work. We operate on a scale that allows closeness to the product, the process, and the people behind it.

We work with the same fabrics and mills used by established luxury houses, selecting materials for their feel, durability, and character. Quality is never a styling choice for us, it is the foundation. Each piece is developed with the intention to last, to age well, and to be worn.

Bespoke & one-of-a-kind pieces are entirely handcrafted in our Vienna Atelier. Also our Jewellery is crafted and hand-painted in our Atelier, often in collaboration with Viennese artists handpainting our unique Jewellery. Every object carries small variations and human marks that make them unique.

Knitwear, denim, and selected jersey styles are produced in Italy at trusted, small-scale factories known for their technical expertise and long-standing craft traditions. We choose our partners carefully and work closely with them, valuing skill, respect, and consistency over scale.

The Atelier is located inside our Vienna store. Like an open kitchen, the space offers a look behind the scenes.

Since the beginning, WHYAT has been seen in the wardrobes of international celebrities from the worlds of sport and music, reflecting the brand's growing presence in contemporary culture.

WHYAT stands for a blend of craft, simplicity, fun, intention, and love. We care about how things are made, who makes them, and how they make you feel. From everyday staples to tailored outerwear, each piece is made to be worn – honestly & with character.
